Trucking company Mapai Transport has offered to freight hospital equipment to hospitals in the Highlands for free.
The PNG Tribal Foundation and PNG-LNG project acquired the hospital equipment and supplies for the hospitals. Mapai Transport spokesman Jacob Luke said in a statement the company’s vision was based on “living a life to serve others and giving unconditionally to the disadvantaged and the least fortunate people”.
Luke said the company had in its 26 years in the trucking business helped disabled people, the PNG Cancer Relief Society, Angau Hospital and other organisations. “This is another event where the managing director has decided that we cart these medical supplies free of charge to show to the people that Mapai is truly committed to serve,” Sako said “It is going to be an ongoing thing for the years to come, it is not only a company that is here to make money but is also here to make contributions to benefit the disadvantaged.”
Luke also appealed to the communities along the Highlands Highway to respect the company by looking after its trucks and drivers during their stops along the highway.
